PROGRAM STATEMENT

The College Student Affairs program at Penn State University provides graduate instruction for students preparing to enter the student affairs profession on college and university campuses. The required coursework provides students with the skills and competencies essential to become a successful student affairs professional as stated in the program’s Learning Outcomes. Coursework includes foundational studies as well as professional studies in the areas of student development theory, student characteristics and effects of college on students, individual and group interventions, organization and administration of student affairs, and assessment, evaluation, and research. The program provides intentional opportunities for students to enhance their professional skills through internships in student affairs administrative offices.
