PROGRAM STATEMENT

The USC Rossier School of Education is one of the nation’s premier schools of education. PROGRAM MISSION

The Rossier mission is to improve urban education locally, nationally and globally. Educators in urban areas face a unique set of challenges, including poverty, density, mobility and immigration, strained social conditions around housing, healthcare and crime, and cultural and linguistic diversity. Rossier’s programs equip students with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to succeed in an educational environment undergoing great change.

Most diverse program in the nation – we graduate more minority educators than any other institution.
3-year cohort model is flexibly designed to meet the needs of working professionals – evening or weekend (Friday and Saturday) options.
Thematic Dissertation allows students to complete the program in three years!
Opportunity for international study trip to China or Vietnam.
Program offered on the USC campus and partially offered off-site in Orange County, CA (first year only and K-12 concentration if cohort), Hawaii or Sacramento, CA, depending on the year.
Personalized advisement and support provide by Ed.D. Program Office, Doctoral Support Center, and in-house Career Center.
The USC Rossier School of Education has a national and international reputation of producing change agents in urban education.

Focus on Urban Education policy with concentrations in educational psychology, higher education policy, and K-12 policy and practice.
Program prepares the next generation of university faculty, educational researchers, and policy analysists.
Every member of the Ph.D. cohort is provided with four years of support through multiple work experiences, allowing each student the opportunity to participate in research, university teaching and study.
Emphasis on pre-graduation publications and conference presentations. Each student receives an annual travel award for professional development and attendance at academic conferences.
