PROGRAM STATEMENT

The USC Rossier School of Education is one of the nation’s premier schools of education. PROGRAM MISSION

The Rossier mission is to improve urban education locally, nationally and globally. Educators in urban areas face a unique set of challenges, including poverty, density, mobility and immigration, strained social conditions around housing, healthcare and crime, and cultural and linguistic diversity. Rossier’s programs equip students with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to succeed in an educational environment undergoing great change.

Opportunity for students to develop an area of proficiency in Academic Advising, Athletic Administration, or Student Affairs.
Faculty members include full-time professors as well as professionals working in the field.
USC is an urban university that is responsive to its community. PASA provides experiences in college mentoring and access and equity through participation in the Center for Higher Education Policy Analysis (CHEPA)’s I AM mentoring program. Students can earl fieldwork credit for their participation.
Case studies, course-based action research, and field-based experience assist students in developing program design, implementation, and evaluation skills.
Competencies developed are showcased in a portfolio of student experiences.
Students become successful scholar-practitioners through a balance between the creation of new knowledge and the application of existing knowledge.
Off-campus fieldwork is offered at neighboring institutions for a breadth of experience.
Master’s Programs Office and Rossier School of Education Career Center provide dedicated student advising and support services.
Student organization- PASA Network- offers professional development and social interaction.
