Welcome to the Commission on Administrative (CAL) Web site! This Commission was one of the original ACPA Commissions established in 1961 and will celebrate 50 years of service this next year! As Chair, it is my hope that you will choose to sign up on-line and become a part of our Commission. (You can do this simply by going to www.myacpa.org and requesting to be part of this team!)
Our nine Commission Guiding Principles include:
- Develop Administrators as educators and leaders
- Emphasize positive mentoring and role modeling
- Provide training and development opportunities
- Employ theory and best practice
- Collaborate with other commissions, and campus constituencies
- Offer feedback to ACPA leadership structure
- Recognize success within the profession and commission
- Partner with academic affairs
- Encourage relevant research
You should know of the very constructive and open dialogue now underway between the ACPA and NASPA leadership. Both Presidents - Mike Segawa and Tom Jackson - as well as Executive Directors and other leaders are discussing a possible “unification” of these two professional organizations. For more detail and discussion, go to http://www2.myacpa.org/au/governance/unification.php. Your thoughts here are most welcome back to the two association presidents as well as to me.
