Commission Elections
It is election time for ACPA's Commission for Assessment and Evaluation.

ACPA's Commission for Assessment and Evaluation (CAE) promotes assessment skills and knowledge to facilitate and support student learning, development, and effective student affairs practice.

We are currently soliciting nominations for the directorate of our commission and for the chair-elect. We accept self-nominations as well as the nomination of others. A brief summary is provided below, followed by more in-depth information if you wish to submit a nomination.

Directorate Nominations – Anyone can be nominated, as long as they are an ACPA member. Deadline to nominate others: December 1st. Deadline to nominate yourself: December 15th. Please note that an additional form is required to formalize candidacy by the December 15th deadline.

If you wish to nominate yourself, please complete the Directorate Candidacy Form and e-mail it to Scott Brown. Deadline for self nominations is December 15, 2009.

If you wish to nominate someone other than yourself, please send that person's name, their email address, and their current position to Scott Brown by December 1, 2009. If the nomination is for someone other than you, we will then contact that person to determine if they accept the nomination and if so, send them a form to formalize their candidacy. Deadline for interested individuals to submit this candidacy form: December 15, 2009.

Directorate member nominee qualifications and responsibilities:
Qualifications
• Must be a current ACPA member.
• Demonstrate skill and knowledge in assessment.
• Demonstrate interest and enthusiasm for assessment.


Expectations
• CAE membership encouraged but not required. CAE wishes to encourage nominees who bring the talent and expertise needed in student affairs assessment although they may not be a CAE member at the time of nomination. As professional development needs evolve across years, CAE wishes to attract a slate and elect those individuals whose knowledge and skills will most likely assist in further developing the assessment skills and knowledge needed by student affairs professionals.
• May not serve on any other Commission Directorate during the three year term of office.
• Attendance at the annual convention is strongly encouraged as it is the only face-to-face meeting time for the directorate.
• Will attend all CAE activities during the ACPA Conventions especially directorate meetings.
• Be willing to assume leadership responsibility for a CAE project.
• Be willing to be an active and timely participant in all directorate discussions.
• Be willing to present on assessment related topics at ACPA conventions, ACPA summer assessment seminar, ACPA regional assessment events or other such professional development as needs emerge and are addressed by CAE for the benefit of ACPA members and of the profession.
• Contribute and participate in the CAE directorate activities as a year round responsibility to include the period of time pre and post convention.
• Contribute to or lead on assigned projects, including Directorate discussions via e-mail, telephone, and other forms of communication.
• Be willing to spend an average of five hours a month on CAE projects. Depending on the project, some times of the year will be busier than others.

Chair-elect nominee qualifications and responsibilities:
• Must be a current member of ACPA and the Commission.
• Must have served on the Commission Directorate since the previous Chair-Elect election.
• Must have a strong knowledge of assessment as a professional specialty within Student Affairs.
• Must be willing to fill the responsibilities of Chair-Elect / Chair / Past Chair, including attending all ACPA conferences during their tenure, and all the Summer Leadership Meetings while serving as Chair.
• Have demonstrated strong leadership qualities while serving on the Commission Directorate.

The CAE Nominations and Elections committee will review all nominations and slate candidates with the interests and background most likely to assist our Commission in further movement forward in serving the assessment needs of ACPA members.

Endorsed by national accrediting bodies, associations, and assessment experts, the ACPA ASK Standards articulate the areas of assessment skills and knowledge (ASK) needed by student affairs professionals in all functional areas as well as by others.

• Click on "Member Login" (top right)

• Enter your user name and password. If you do not know these, click on "Forgot your login information?" at the bottom.

• Go to the bottom left under “Committees” and click on the “list of committees” link.

• Find “Commission for Assessment and Evaluation” and click on it.

• At the top of the next page, click on “Join Committee”
