2007 Chair-Elect and Directorate Elections
Position Description,
Commission for Professional Preparation Chair-Elect
The chair-elect must meet the following criteria:
- Be a member in good standing of ACPA.
- Be a member of the Commission.
- Not be serving simultaneously on another commission directorate.
- Must have served on the directorate of the commission.
Duties and responsibilities of the chair/chair-elect:
- Welcome new commission members, and develop mechanisms for their involvement in commission tasks and activities at the annual convention.
- Communicate with the directorate body and commission membership regarding the work of the commission and the association.
- Generate issues for which the commission will give professional leadership.
- Nominate and elect directorate members and a chair-elect.
- Organize and conduct an orientation for new directorate members and for the new chair-elect.
- Plan and conduct the annual meeting of the commission at the annual convention.
- Submit annual budget.
- Submit mid-year and annual report to the director for commissions.
- Attend meetings of commission chairpersons and the executive council, along with other meetings at the annual convention as scheduled by the coordinator for commissions.
- Communication with the coordinator for commissions.
- Other duties and responsibilities as outlined in the leadership manual.
Position Description,
Commission for Professional Preparation Directorate
In the directorate position, newly elected members must meet the following criteria:
- Be a member in good standing of ACPA.
- Be a member of the commission.
- Have not served on the directorate for at least two years.
- Not be serving simultaneously on another commission directorate.
Duties and responsibilities of directorate members:
- Attend and participate in all directorate body meetings the annual convention beginning in 2008 and ending in 2011. Directorate members are expected to attend these meetings even if institutional support is not available.
- Assume responsibility for 1-2 major commission activities, such as chairing a project or task force, serving as a liaison with other ACPA bodies, editing or contributing to the website, coordinating the faculty research program, overseeing the syllabus clearinghouse, chairing the sponsored programs review, supervising the research awards program, and other duties as needed.
- Assist the chair by providing feedback and information as requested. Minimally, reports regarding major project areas are due prior to the annual convention.
