The Recreation, Athletics, and Wellness Commission (RAWC) is excited for Boston! We are currently looking for individuals to help us review program submissions, volunteer to help with conference activities, and for conference presentations.

Are you looking for a way to get more involved in ACPA but do not have a lot of time to devote? Are you interested in presenting at the 2019 ACPA Annual Conference in Boston? If you are thinking about either of these, then the Recreation, Athletics, and Wellness Commission has some great opportunities for you!

Sponsored Program Presenters

Conference presentations are excellent opportunities to share your work and knowledge with a wide variety of professionals on the topics of recreation and athletics. Submitting through the commission also increases the likelihood of acceptance.

There are many options for your presentation type, one of which is Sponsored or Co-Sponsored Programs. If you are submitting a recreation, athletic, or wellness focused program, we encourage you to select “Sponsored Program” with the “Recreation, Athletics, and Wellness Commission” as your program type. If your program is not selected as a Sponsored Program, it will then be reviewed as a submission for a General Program.

If you are interested in presenting, please submit a program proposal by visiting https://s1.goeshow.com/acpa/annual/2019/session_submission.cfm  Proposals are due by September 7, 2018.

Sponsored Program Reviewers

The commission is seeking individuals to review programs related to campus recreation and athletics for the 2018 ACPA Convention. This is a great way to become more involved in ACPA and help select programs to be sponsored by the commission at the conference.

In mid-September, program reviewers will be sent a link to review up to 5 programs using an online system with a provided rubric. Reviewers will have 2-3 weeks to evaluate their sessions. Each program will be reviewed by at least 3 individuals so you will not be the only person evaluating a session.

If you are interested in reviewing for the Recreation, Athletics, and Wellness Commission, you will need to do three things:

  1. Sign up on the ACPA website by September 7, 2018 to become a reviewer. The link to the site can be found at: https://s1.goeshow.com/acpa/annual/2019/reviewer_signup_form.cfm
  2. Under “Are you interested in reviewing sessions on behalf of Entities for sponsorship?" be sure check Commission for Recreation, Athletics, and Wellness.
  3. Please email our Vice Chair for Conference Programs, Catherine Thompson at catherine.thompson.2@louisville.edu, so we can add you to our list for the commission.

Thank you for considering volunteering your time or presenting on your work and becoming involved in the Commission for Recreation and Athletics. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
