As higher education is increasing in enrolling students with diverse identities and backgrounds, it is important to provide space, community, and services for these diverse identities and backgrounds. During the National Disability Employment Awareness Month, we will be hosting a webinar to share best practices and employment needs of students with all types of disabilities. A student’s disability is only one part of who they are. When providing career services to students with disabilities, counselors must embrace a broader perspective that considers personal and social contexts. Participants can learn how best career services’ practices and programming when working with students with all types of disabilities.

Presenter:

Spencer Scruggs currently works as a Disability Specialist at Florida State University, working with students with disabilities, faculty, and staff to create inclusive and accessible learning environments on campus. Outside of working individually with students to set-up accommodations, he also focuses his efforts on educational programming regarding disability and accessibility, research centering the narratives and shared experiences of students with disabilities, and preparing emerging student affairs professionals to be advocates for accessibility and inclusion. He currently serves as the Membership Engagement Coordinator for the Coalition for (Dis)Ability and Vice Chair for Professional Development with the Graduate Students and New Professionals Community of Practice."
