NEW special addition!
EXTREME EXPRESSION: MANAGING PROTESTS, CONTROVERSIAL SPEAKERS AND ACTIVISM IN THE WAKE OF CHARLOTTESVILLE
October 22 from 1:00 – 4:30 pm
Campuses throughout the country are bracing for protests and activism either on campus or in their communities. This special session will offer an interactive opportunity to learn more about First Amendment and free speech/association rights and responsibilities in the face of potentially violent events. Can we shun speakers and groups that present the risk of violence and disruption? If events/speakers come, how can and should we respond? How should we react if we learn that one of our students or colleagues attends such an event? How can and should campuses and leaders address the new reality of extreme expression?
