ACPA Cultural Study Tour to Ghana
June 6 - 22, 2008
Part of our role as college student educators is to help prepare students for a global society. ACPA's 2008 Cultural Study Tour to Ghana will help you learn about student services and the higher education system and Ghanaian culture. Participants will visit six regions of the country and end the tour at old world Accra. The tour will be led by faculty coordinators Gregory Roberts, ACPA Executive Director, and Dr. Melissa Exum of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Join ACPA and colleagues from across the country on this culturally stimulating 14-day journey to learn and share with college student educators on the other side of the world!
The cultural study tour will offer lectures from university professors and administrators at the University of Ghana, University of Cape Coast, and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Additional campuses may be added. A special service-learning project has been added to the tour. The tour group will visit the cities of Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Mole, Bolgatanga, and Cape Coast. Participants will also tour the Dr. W.E.B. DuBois Center, Aburi Botanical Gardens, Kakum National Park, Mole National Game Park, Cape Coast Castle, and the West African Historical Museum. Experience the historic remnants of the slave holdings - a painful and sad reminder of the tragedies of the transatlantic slave trade.
