Standing Committee for Men Directorate

Description of Directorate, Liaison, and Subcommittee Member Roles for the Standing Committee for Men (SCM).

Coordinator for Research and Scholarship

Assembles and maintains research and resource materials regarding men's issues
Initiates projects that increases the body of knowledge about men
Advises Student Affairs staff and faculty in their efforts to serve and/or study male students
Provides one article about current activities for each issue of the SCM newsletter
Works with the Conventions Program Coordinator to evaluate SCM convention program submissions.

Convention Program Coordinator

Works with Coordinator for Research and Scholarship to recruit, review and make recommendations for conference session co/sponsorship
Arranges for a SCM representative to attend all sponsored events and programs
Organizes conference events and meetings, including publicity, space, refreshment, and equipment orders
Provides one article about current activities for each issue of the SCM newsletter

Membership Services Coordinator

Coordinates new member recruitment activities, including events and publication
Follows-up with all new members, providing encouragement and involvement opportunities
Maintains a current roster of SCM members and their involvement
Answers questions and addresses concerns of new members
Provides one article about current activities for each issue of the SCFM newsletter
Will develop a mentor/mentee and convention colleagues program

Historian/Secretary

Maintains a chronicle of SCM history, including meetings, activities, rituals, and tradition
Assists other Vice-Chairs with logistical needs (ex: helps arrange ancillary space)
Ensures that support, encouragement, and recognition is provided for contributions to SCM
Observes and discusses the tone and atmosphere of meetings and activities

Publications Coordinator/Newsletter Editor

Oversees the production of four newsletter issues each year (pre & post conference, summer, mid-fall)
Works with other Directorate members to distribute information and promote SCM activities
Provides one article about current activities for each issue of the SCM newsletter

Chair

Convenes and chairs SCM meetings and conference-calls, or designates proxies as needed
Ensures SCM is represented at all ACPA Executive Council Meetings
Provides guidance and support to Directorate and general members
Collaborates with Directorate members to propose, plan, and conduct SCM projects and activities
Serves as an advocate for SCFM in all Association and related venues
Provides one article about current activities for each issue of the SCM newsletter
Maintains SCFM budget and consults with Directorate regarding its use

Awards Coordinator

Coordinates nominations for and presentations of SCM awards

Web Site Coordinator

Maintains SCM Web Site
Submits an article for each newsletter regarding technology

Convention Carnival Coordinator

Works with SCM Directorate to develop activities for convention carnival
Develop and coordinate materials to be distributed that will promote ACPA member knowledge about issues related to men's development

Past Chair

Works with SCM Chair and Directorate to establish leadership and manage the transition from term to term.

Standing Committee for Men Liaisons

Seek opportunities for collaboration between SCM and their Commission/ Standing Committee
Ensure that SCM activities are promoted within their Commission/Standing Committee
Inform SCM Directorate regarding the activities of their Commission/Standing Committee
