August 2008

Dear Members and Guests:

It is hard to believe that summer is almost over. We will soon be bidding farewell to the lazy days of summer and soon be welcoming back the students to our campuses. Since our Mid-Year meeting, we have been working busily on many different projects that we hope will benefit our members. You may have noticed some changes already to the website. We have added more resources for not only our members but for all visitors to our website. One of the distinct changes is that we have put our Mission and Goals on their own individual page within our website. We have also added local resources for the 2009 ACPA convention in Washington, DC. As you review the website, please let us know what resources you would like to see added so that we can benefit everyone by dropping our Director for Marketing and Communications a note.

Another change we have done is that we are hoping to publish our newsletter more often. By doing so, we will be able to offer more resources for our members, as well as more opportunities for those who want to help educate not only our members but also the membership of ACPA of issues facing the LGBT population.

As always, we encourage individuals to get involved with the Standing Committee. We are always seeking volunteers and feedback so that we can continue to make the Standing Committee a valuable resource to our members. We would like to seek feedback on how to improve the website.  If you have information or a link that you feel would be valuable for our members, please feel free to send that to me and I will work on getting that information on our website. We are always looking for articles for the Out on Campus newsletter and for various initiatives throughout the year, including our elections.

The Standing Committee Directorate is here to serve and help our members and the members of ACPA.  I hope that you will take some time to get involved and make not only our Standing Committee but ACPA a better place for everyone!

Sincerely,

Claire Williams
