The Latin@ Network of the American College Personnel Association’s (ACPA) Standing Committee for Multicultural Affairs (CMA) has selected Terry Clemente Mena as the recipient of the Dr. John Hernandez Leadership Award. Mr. Mena was selected due to his leadership, citizenship, and active participation in ACPA and the Latin@ Network.

Mr. Mena is a member of the Housing and Residential Life team at Florida Atlantic University where he is responsible for an apartment complex consisting of 490 residents, and oversees the general management which includes the development of community programming that promotes and guides student development. Mr, Mena is also pursing a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education at Florida Atlantic University.

David Ortiz, the 2001 recipient of the John Hernandez Leadership Award writes of Mr. Mena, “One of Terry’s strongest qualities is his sense of inclusion. As co-chair of the Latino/a Network, Terry created a sense of “team ownership”. That is, he established a Latino/a Network council that empowered network members to become involved and take active leadership roles. During Terry’s tenure as the LN co-chair, I can honestly say that the network experienced unprecedented growth, organization, and visibility within CMA and ACPA.”
