COMMISSIONS  - GLBT Commission

Out After Work!

Mark Your Calendars; Out After Work is a chance for all who want to be involved in the commission.  This is a great way to casually connect to people across the state at the end of the Friday workday (4-6PM) over some libations & snacks.  Exact locations will be sent over the MCPA listserv.

2009 Dates: 9/17, 10/15, 11/12

Mission and Responsibilities

The GLBTA Commission of the Minnesota College Personnel Association serves as a resource to the MCPA Board of Directors in assuring that issues and concerns specific to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and ally members and individuals are included and addressed by MCPA.  The GLBTA Commission will achieve this goal by:

Promoting Awareness through Education

  • Conferences & workshops
  • GLBTA topics covered at MCPA-sponsored events
  • GLBTA educational sessions and programs at the annual MCPA Conference
  • Updates on GLBTA initiatives (in higher education, the legislature,  & business) through MCPA publications
  • Access to local, regional and national GLBTA resources through MCPA website

Networking & Social Activities

  • Out After Work Friday get-togethers
  • Receptions & gatherings at MCPA/ACPA conferences

Community Involvement

  • Collaborations with ACPA’s Standing Committee for LGBT Awareness, MN GLBTA Campus Alliance, Midwest BLGTA College Conference, OutFront Minnesota, and other GLBTA organizations
  • Participation in GLBTA community events, including Twin Cities Pride Festival (June) and National Coming Out Day Luncheon (October), among others

 Contact the Co-Chairs:

Ask us if you need help starting an Ally or Safe Zone Training, developing inclusive policies, organizing programs on GLBTA issues, or just getting support.  We can help!
