Welcome! The Sustainability Advisory Committee serves to facilitate the successful design, implementation and evaluation of the Triple Bottom Line (social justice, healthy environments and strong economies) to promote and support sustainability education, policies, and practices throughout ACPA.
Advisory Committee members review, assess, plan, and recommend sustainability educational programming and scholarship for ACPA membership to advance members knowledge, skills and awareness on sustainability and provide them with the tools necessary to make change on their campuses. In addition, the Sustainability Advisory Committee seeks to identify and advise ACPA regarding practices and policies to allow Association to function as a more sustainable organization.
Sustainability and ACPA Core Values
ACPA is one of several associations which co-founded the Higher Education Associations Sustainability Consortium (HEAC) in 2005 as part of the U.S. Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development. ACPA plays a key role in the consortium by emphasizing the student development approach to teaching and learning with the national higher education community.
Among ACPA's stated core values are the following:
- Education and development of the total student;
- Diversity, multicultural competence and human dignity; and
- Free and open exchange of ideas in a context of mutual respect.
ACPA is committed to the advancement of healthy and sustainable communities throughout the world.
