The depth and quality of work by student affairs educators, higher education scholars, and faculty colleagues too often goes unrecognized.

Get Involved with CAL by recognizing and nominating a colleague, supervisor or supervisee, mentor, or other leader for a CAL Award.

Award for Excellence in Institutional Change

  • Recognizes group or division having collectively tackled a substantial institutional change project through the development of some new effort shown to produce exemplary results.

  • Both the challenge being addressed and the results being produced are informed by significant assessment data at the appropriate level within the institution.

  • Efforts recognized are those that can be illustrated as having embedded themselves within institutional culture so as to sustain the change and the results that have been produced.

  • Nominee must include multiple individuals from within the same institution of higher education, at least one of whom must be a current ACPA member.

Senior Level Professional Award

This award is designed to recognize the accomplishments of a senior student affairs professional who has contributed to their campus, the profession, as well as the association/CAL. Specifically nominees for this award should have:

  • Served a minimum of 10 years in the profession with progressively more responsible leadership roles.

  • Demonstrated expertise in creating a campus environment that promotes student learning and professional development

  • Outstanding individual contribution in innovative and responsive services and programs that address varied and emerging needs of students.

  • Provided significant leadership in addressing issues and making contributions to the profession, ACPA, and the Commission for Administrative Leadership.

  • Must be a current member of ACPA.

Mid-Level Professional Award

  • Demonstrated expertise in creating a campus environment that promotes student learning and professional development

  • Outstanding individual contribution in innovative and responsive services and programs that address varied and emerging needs of students

  • Significant contributions to the profession, ACPA, and the Commission for Administrative Leadership.

  • Must have at least five years as a full-time practitioner at an institution of higher education.

  • Must be a current member of ACPA.

Outstanding New Professional Award

  • May not have served more than three years in a full-time position at an institution of higher education.

  • Will be judged on contributions to ACPA and contributions to the individual's employer institution(s)

  • Has performed all aspects of their job in an exemplary manner

  • Must include a supporting letter from the immediate supervisor as part of the nomination

  • Must be a current member of ACPA.

Distinguished Service to the Commission for Administrative Leadership

  • Has served on the Commission for at least three years.

  • Has held a variety of leadership positions within the Commission.

  • Is dedicated to the mission of the Commission and goes above and beyond when working for the Commission.

  • Must be a current member of ACPA and the Commission for Administrative Leadership.
