About Dr. Donna M. Bourassa
The Institute is named for Donna M. Bourassa, Ed.D., former Associate Executive Director of ACPA, who created the Institute in 1999 to promote a more advanced understanding of the principles of student affairs and provide effective management tools to excel. It has been a successful professional development resource to hundreds of student affairs professionals. Donna was among the faculty for the program. She lost a valiant fight to cancer in September 2004. The ACPA Foundation established an endowed scholarship fund in Donna's name, if you wish to contribute please visit their Web site.
Going into its 16th year, the Donna M. Bourassa Mid-Level Management Institute is an ACPA signature educational program for those desiring to understand their authentic leadership, strengthen their capacities and understand self and organizational dynamics in order to lead well. The Institute, named for Donna Bourassa, Ed.D. former Associate Executive Director of ACPA, is a successful professional development resource to hundreds of colleagues in the student affairs profession.
- Dynamic curriculum focused on identifying the complexities facing higher education and the student affairs profession and providing the resources to affect positive change.
- Sessions dedicated to skill enhancement in the following areas:

- Multicultural Competencies
- Leadership and Ethics
- Communication and Difficult Dialogues
- Politics of Everyday Work
- Organizational and Transition Management
- Continuing Education Credits are available.
- Limited to 56 participants, allowing for lots of interaction between participants and faculty.
- A highly interactive and engaging learning environment using a cohort model to affect personal and professional transformation.

The first step in the process is for participants to send in an application packet. All participants must submit the following information (via e-mail or fax) to the attention of Tricia Fechter at the ACPA International Office:
Note: The Institute is designed for professionals who have been in the student affairs field for five (5) or more years. Departmental directors who have fewer than five years experience are also eligible to register for the Institute.
The deadline to submit these documents is October 25, 2013.
After your materials are submitted, you will be updated on the status of your application by November 1, 2013. Those selected will then be invited to register and reserve hotel rooms at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center at the University of Texas at Austin
Two merit-based $240 scholarships are available. In addition to the information above, a letter from your immediate supervisor is also required. The supervisor's letter should include (a) how the participant will benefit from attending the Institute, and (b) what financial constraints exist which may prevent the participant's attendance. This information should also be sent to Tricia Fechter in the International Office.
Deadline date to apply for a scholarship is October 25, 2013.
Registration information will be sent to those selected after November 1, 2013.

The registration fee includes dinner on Saturday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Sunday, breakfast and lunch Monday and Tuesday, and breakfast on Wednesday as well as refreshment breaks and all Institute materials.
